I WAS staring into the eyes of sharks, with my baby in my arms – no, not the check-in staff at Gatwick who fleeced me out of £30 for luggage on our flight back to Aberdeen – I was deep in the heart of London looking at another species entirely.
London Aquarium is superb. Here you can spend hours wandering past massive tanks full of sharks three times your size – with mouthfuls of razor-sharp teeth on show. A glass walkway allows you to tiptoe above them – though this isn’t as spectacular as the tunnel which lets you walk through them.
There are hundreds of beautiful creatures, from giant stingrays, turtles, crocodiles, clownfish and octopus to tiny poisonous frogs and seahorses – and just when you think you’ve seen it all, cute little penguins swim right before your eyes.
