Garden City Public Schools welcomes longtime Village resident Frederick Leuffer to the District Audit Committee. Mr. Leffer, a graduate of New York University awarded a B.S. and an M.B.A., is the President of FPL, a securities firm based in Garden City. From 1992-2005, he was Senior Energy Analyst and a Senior Managing Director at Bear, Stearns & Company, Inc., a member of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Prior to joining Bear Stearns, Mr. Leuffer was a Managing Director at C.J. Lawrence, Inc., also a member of the NYSE, where he worked from 1982-1992, and headed the company's energy research effort. Mr. Leuffer began his career in finance as an officer for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company, where he was assigned to cover the oil and broadcasting industries.
Mr. Leuffer is a member of the CFA Institute, the New York Society of Security Analysts, the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts, and the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. He has been an advisor on energy matters to the U.S., Canadian, Argentine, and Chinese governments, as well as to the governments of several Middle Eastern countries. He is the author of several magazine articles on business and the energy industry and, for the past 20 years, has been elected to the Institutional Investor Magazine's All American Research Team as one of the top Wall Street analysts covering the domestic and international oil industries. Institutional Investor (II) and the Wall Street Journal have recognized Mr. Leuffer as the best stock picker in the oil industry, with II naming him among the 15 best stock pickers on Wall Street.
