The English prospect painter J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) is considered to be one of the greatest and most case artist of this notwithstanding. However, this man who revolutionised the art of painting, constently turned for stimulus to other painters he carefully selected, both old masters and coetaneous rivals. This expo is the first to set Turner’s works along-side those of « his » painters : Lorrain, Rembrandt, Titien, Poussin, Watteau….in purpose that to have a better brains not only of his in dire straits to each of these but also to see how he differs from them. There are around one hundred paintings and drawn works on show.
