No surprise...this what happens in a college town movement when you forget the movement in a college town. The campers have confused the symbol-the encampment-with the thing symbolized-the movement. Frankly, I am worried for the Occupation in Central Park. Students... needed to be their core. Students! I support the encampment, but the "non" leadership there must respect the KIND of community it is in. And Central Park, and Downtown Davis, and the campus is all about Community. The encampment can continue to enroll community support, and make allies of UCD students by outreaching to them--directly and eschewing any 'elitist' approach. The newest camp tent nearest the parking lot and all it's "paraphernalia" is the first thing we see from that heavily travelled Farmer's Market side; it is a small wonder that the group as a whole is being described by this anti- encampment student has.

The city’s Plan Commission adopted a resolution Monday that would put developments regarding the proposed Central Park another step closer to fruition.

The final report of the Central Park Design and Implementation Task Force was greeted with enthusiasm by commission members who felt the report’s role as a supplement to Madison’s Comprehensive Plan would be a welcome development toward improving green and public space in the city.

“I think it’s a wonderful project and has a feel of something that we can really do,” Plan Commission member Judy Olson said.
