Hub of the Capital will remain inaccessible to the general traffic from Saturday for at least a year, thanks to the proposed Metro construction that is scheduled to start soon.
The closing of the less than half a kilometre stretch between Windsor Place and Janpath-Tolstoy Marg crossing is going to leave thousands of shoppers and tourists disappointed. Delhi Metro will dig up the road along the Tibetan Market and Janpath Mini Market.
The access to hotels, food joints and offices on the stretch will also be restricted from Saturday. Some of the major buildings to be affected are Janpath Hotel, Western Court, Eastern Court, Imperial Hotel, Kidwai Bhawan and STC.
“We will deploy marshals at Windsor Place to guide traffic as well as check and allow those heading for these offices and hotels,”said spokesperson, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
