WESTERN classical musicians from Germany and Myanmar were given a rare opportunity to perform together during a crowd-pleasing performance at the Strand Hotel in Yangon on October 7.
The performance, organised by the German embassy and Goethe Institut, included 17 members of Chamber Orchestra Tübingen from Germany and 20 members of the United Yangon Orchestra (UYO) from Myanmar.
“Although Myanmar people are generally unfamiliar with European music, it was great to perform with local musicians,” said Mr Andreas Ritzinger, first violin (soloist and concertmaster) with Chamber Orchestra Tübingen.
He said the main difference between Western classical musicians in Europe and Myanmar is education.
