A frightful creature is said to take abode in the ruins of Castle Redlach, and while many dismiss these claims as the preposterous products of common superstition and myth, no man alive will venture within so much as a mile of the place. Travelling merchants avoid the long deserted mountain roads winding past its craggy walls, and Barons march their Men-at-arms wide of the crumbling towers and ramparts. Of the countless tales regarding the devil of Redlach, truth may be found in only a handful.

Some tell of a princess whose life was destroyed by a jealous rival, her stunning beauty twisted and reshaped to bestial countenance. Others insist the thing fell blazing from the night sky, and that the castle, built by priests of a mysterious and ancient sect, was both the temple and prison of the fallen god.
