In 2011, iconic superheroes were relaunched, DC Comics and rival Marvel Comics led the charge toward embracing the new digital frontier, Green Lantern and Thor made their cinematic debuts, and Image Comics continued to become the go-to publisher for excellent creator-owned books, adding on to the likes of The Walking Dead and Morning Glories.
And naturally, there were scads of passionate fans on Internet message boards and social media ready to argue among each other about all of it.

Next year looks even better, with Image celebrating its 20th anniversary, Spider-Man turning 50, Marvel's massive Avengers vs. X-Men event in the spring, and a bigger movie slate than ever before.
